Why JVH Puzzle needed to exist

After launching the iOS version, we received countless requests from the JVH puzzle community asking for an Android version. Research showed that Android users are very active puzzle enthusiasts, with many specifically focusing on Jan van Haasteren puzzles. The demand was clear: Android users wanted the same comprehensive puzzle tracking experience that iOS users enjoyed. That's why building the Android version became a priority.

Android Experience

So the journey started. After building the iOS version in native Swift, I had to learn Kotlin to bring JVH Puzzle to Android. The transition from Swift to Kotlin was a learning curve, but having Firebase in the middle made it easier the backend and data structure were already in place, so I could focus on learning the Android ecosystem and Kotlin syntax.
