Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy describes how Studio Taupe (“we”, “our”, or “us”) collects, uses, and protects your information when you use the Paint by Code app for iOS.

1. Who we are

Paint by Code is developed by Studio Taupe, based in Deventer, the Netherlands. You can contact us at developer@studiotaupe.com.

2. What data the app processes

Paint by Code is a fully local app. Everything runs on your device. To provide its features, the app can process:

• Photos — Images you choose from your photo library or take with your camera. These are processed on your device to generate paint-by-numbers canvases. We do not upload your photos to our servers.
• Generated canvases — Numbered canvases, color legends, region maps, and palette data created from your photos. Stored locally on your device.
• Paint progress — Your coloring progress, paint strokes, and layer data when you use paint mode. Stored locally on your device.
• App settings — Your style preferences such as color count, detail level, and canvas format. Stored locally on your device.

3. No account, no cloud

Paint by Code does not require an account. We do not operate cloud storage or sync services for this app. Your photos, canvases, and paint progress remain on your device unless you choose to export or share them.

4. Device permissions

The app may request the following permissions:

• Photo library — To choose a photo for canvas generation and optionally save exported canvases.
• Camera — To take a new photo directly in the app.

You can manage these permissions at any time in iOS Settings. The app only accesses photos you explicitly select or capture.

5. Export and sharing

When you export a canvas for printing or use the iOS share sheet, you choose where the file goes (e.g. Files, AirDrop, or another app). We do not receive or store exported files.

6. Third-party services

Paint by Code is distributed through the Apple App Store. Apple’s privacy practices apply to app distribution: Apple Privacy Policy. We do not use third-party analytics, advertising, or cloud backends in the app.

7. Data retention and deletion

All app data remains on your device until you delete individual canvases within the app, clear app data, or uninstall the app. Uninstalling Paint by Code removes all locally stored canvases and progress.

8. Your rights

Because we do not collect personal data on our servers, most data is under your direct control on your device. Depending on where you live, you may have rights regarding personal data. To exercise these rights or ask questions, contact us at developer@studiotaupe.com.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the updated version on this page and update the “Last updated” date.
