This Privacy Policy describes how Studio Taupe (“we”, “our”, or “us”) collects, uses, and protects your information when you use the JVH Puzzle app for iOS.
1. Who we are
JVH Puzzle for iOS is developed by Studio Taupe, based in Deventer, the Netherlands. You can contact us at developer@studiotaupe.com.
2. Information we collect
To provide the app and sync your puzzle collection across devices, we collect:
- Account information — When you sign in with Apple or email/password, we receive your email address and (for Sign in with Apple) basic profile info from the provider. We use this only to identify your account and enable sync.
- Puzzle collection data — Which puzzles you own, their progress (e.g. completed, in progress), and related metadata. This is stored so your collection syncs across your iOS devices.
- Device and app usage — We may receive anonymous or aggregated data (e.g. crash reports, app performance) to improve the app. This depends on your device and App Store settings.
We do not sell your personal data. We do not use your data for advertising or marketing beyond what is needed to run the app.
3. Camera and barcode scanning
The app can use your device’s camera to scan barcodes on puzzle boxes. Barcode scanning is handled on your device (e.g. via iOS camera frameworks). Only the barcode value (e.g. EAN) is used to look up the puzzle in our database and add it to your collection. We do not store or process photos or video from your camera.
4. How we use your information
We use the information above to:
- Provide and maintain the JVH Puzzle app
- Sync your puzzle collection across your iOS devices
- Authenticate you and secure your account
- Fix bugs and improve performance (including via crash/analytics data where applicable)
- Comply with legal obligations where required
5. Third-party services
JVH Puzzle uses the following third-party services, which have their own privacy practices:
- Apple — The app is distributed via the App Store. Apple’s privacy policy applies to data processed by Apple: Apple Privacy Policy.
- Google / Firebase — We use Firebase for authentication (Sign in with Apple, email/password) and for storing and syncing your puzzle collection data. Google’s privacy policy applies to data processed by Google: Google Privacy Policy.
6. Data retention
We keep your account and puzzle collection data for as long as your account exists. If you delete your account (or ask us to delete it), we will remove your personal data and collection data from our systems within a reasonable period, except where we must keep it for legal or security reasons.
7. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you
- Correct inaccurate data
- Request deletion of your data
- Object to or restrict certain processing
- Data portability (e.g. receive your data in a structured format)
To exercise these rights or to delete your account and data, contact us at developer@studiotaupe.com. You can also delete your account from within the app if that option is available.
8. Children
JVH Puzzle is not directed at children under 13 (or the applicable age in your country). We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us and we will delete it.
9. Security
We use industry-standard measures (including Firebase security features) to protect your data. No system is completely secure; we encourage you to use a strong password and keep your device secure.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the updated version on this page and update the “Last updated” date. Continued use of the app after changes means you accept the updated policy. For significant changes, we may notify you in the app or by email where possible.
